Top 5 Keto Diet Hacks

Well if your reading this your probably looking for easier ways to cook and enjoy yourself while doing the Keto diet. Below we are going to discuss some different techniques, different ideas and different ways to cook, shop and eat great foods while on the Keto Diet.  While I think these are all helpful ways to hack the Keto Diet I do not promise any results and I want to remind you that I am not a doctor and you should consult with your physician before trying any new diet that will completely change what you consume.

Keto Diet Hack #1.  Shopping for Keto: While shopping for your Keto Diet can sometimes be overwhelming and also costly, once you get use to it its not that bad.  Items I make sure I keep on hand at all times would be bacon, multiple kinds of cheese such as shredded Mozarella, shredded cheddar (or a taco blend of cheese is also a go to of my family), parmesan cheese already grated, and many different types of meat such as ground beef, pork chops (check carbs on ham and pork chop to make sure nothing has been added), different types of fish such as tilapia, salmon or any of your favorite fishes that can be baked, and I also keep chicken breast, or chicken tenders on hand (I usually by these frozen). I also like to buy sausage to grill sometimes because that is just one of our family favorites. Also I load up on frozen vegatables, my main go to items are the steamer bags of broccoli and cauliflower, I also buy different types of green beans.  So far this is just basic stuff that any family would eat so like I said once you get use to it there is not much difference in shopping for Keto then Shopping for anyone else just go to watch net carb counts and don't buy bread or any sweets or you will want these if they are available to you.   Some other things you might want to think about when shopping is what type of drinks you can have. Well in a normal day I drink my Keto Coffee with added fats for breakfast   which really jump starts my day. This is all I eat or drink in the mornings, I make sure I have something prepared ahead of time for lunch and I cook dinner on most nights. So with that said you should be able to plan out meals with the items I have suggested you by either putting together your own low carb recipes, googling keto recipes, or you can check out KetoChad for recipes that I am posting a few times a
week.

Keto Diet Hack #2. Meal prep and planning: So now we have groceries and are ready to get started. At first it is human nature to be excited about your new eating plan and your new Keto lifestyle so cooking and preparing meals doesn't seem that bad, but you eventually get burnt out on it and say well I will just pick up something for yourself and the family and this one time won't hurt and your right one time probably isn't that big of a deal but if you get completely burnt out, this may turn into a habit and take you completely out of the Keto Diet groove.

So in order to keep this going longer, maybe each member of the household can take turns planning meals (also remember to plan enough for lunch the next day, staying in Ketosis is much easier if you take your lunch to work).

I would also suggest meal planning and meal prep on your days off, mine main day off is Sunday so I throw some frozen chicken breast or chicken tenders in the Instapot  and it takes about 20 minutes or so for them to cook through completely. I make some great recipes with chicken such as Keto Crack Chicken, Chicken Tacos, Avocado chicken salad, and any other recipes I like to make with chicken really turn out great with this Instapot chicken. I also try to cook a lunch meal and a dinner meal on Sundays with enough for left overs so now I have multiple days covered with my extra chicken, my lunch meal and my dinner meal left overs. By doing this it keeps my wife and I from going off the path of the low carb focus.

Keto Diet Hack #3: Pairing Keto with Intermittent fasting:  One of the things that o believe has made me even more successful on the Keto diet is using the intermittent fasting method along with watching my carb intake. Intermittent fasting consists of eating only during an 8 hour period of the day. My goal is to stop eating by 8 pm every night and not have anything in the morning
except for my Keto coffee. My first meal of the day is usually around noon or a little earlier depending on how I feel. Intermittent fasting has really helped to jumpstart weight loss along with the Keto plan I am on.

Keto Diet Hack #4:  Calorie deficit - once or the biggest things I have read about the Keto diet that I don’t agee with is that in don’t have to count calories on the Keto diet.  Some believe if you just keep up with your macros and keep your carbs below a certain amount that you will keep losing weight no matter what else your eating. In my opinion and many others that I have read about you must still keep up with your calorie intake. In order to lose 1 lb a week you need to cut about 500 calories per day. I suggest using an app such as Myfitnesspal to track your food and water intake. You can also hook this to your devices that keep up with your steps and exercise. This is very important in your quest to lose weight. If you can increase your step count by any amount will this help you create the calorie deficit you need to start burning more calories and ultimately losing more weight.

Keto Diet Hack #5: Avocados and MCT oil are very important to what I eat and drink on the Keto diet. Again these are things that work for me and you might find foods that are considered Keto friendly that work better for you. Avocados have many great health benefits no matter what diet you are on, I try to eat one daily because when your eating a high fat diet Avocados are great because of the high amount of  what we consider good fats. They are also very filling so I may add them to a salad or eat them as a side at lunch just to get that little extra to keep me full for the rest of the afternoon.

MCT (medium chain triglycerides) oil is something that also has a lot of health benefits which are also very useful on the Keto diet. Some of the main benefits of MCT oil is that it helps you maintain a healthy wait wince using it daily will make you feel fuller, it helps to reduce stored body fat since it reduces stored body fat, it turns into energy in your body, helps you think more clearly and also improves digestion.
